Invitations for a Charity Party
When my grandmother decided to celebrate her 75th birthday party, she had a few 'demands'. First, she would absolutely NOT have her age printed on the invites, nor should it be mentioned any time during the party. Second, in all her 74 years, she'd had enough birthday gifts from the family and she no longer needed lavender cologne, hair rollers or imported crystal animals. Instead, she wanted everyone to donate whatever they could afford! She informed us of all her stipulations in her no-nonsense voice, over the telephone. When we first heard it, many relatives who were pushing their fifties balked at the idea, but agreed to indulge the 'old lady' anyway. The morning after the party, grandma sent a cheque for $170 to a local old age home. That was 10 years ago ' a long time before charity parties became a trend.
The concept of charity parties is gaining more popularity in recent years with more people using the opportunity to donate to charity organizations. For many people, it makes sense because they party often and receiving gifts seems a waste of good money. According to socialite, Debbie Carlisle, "Dinner parties offer excellent networking opportunities. But, after a while, receiving and reciprocating gifts become a chore. So, we encourage our guests to donate whatever they want to a charitable organization of their choosing. The message is sent out in the invitations to the charity party itself".
Sending out invitations to a charity party may sometimes be an uphill task. After all, how do you tell someone that they can come for the party, but no they can't bring any gifts and if they want to gift something, they can simply donate dog food, clothes or whatever it is? These days, there is a simple and effective workaround.
Many websites take up the responsibility of sending out charity party invitation cards. They have custom made or customizable e-invites that can be filled with all the necessary party information. In addition, the invites inform invitees that they can contribute to 'XYZ charity' in lieu of bringing gifts. These e-invites even have a 'Donate' button which makes it easy for recipients to make their donation immediately. The invites may even have additional facilities like the option for invitees to leave comments or send their RSVPs.
To many guests who receive invitations to charity parties, the concept seems to be a genuinely pleasing one. For one thing, they are saved the hassle of double guessing their host's likes and dislikes. They have the pleasure of giving something that will be appreciated. But, the icing on the cake is something else. As Matt Myres says, "The best part is this amazing satisfaction you feel when you send in your donation to an organization you've always been itching to help, but never had the time or the opportunity. Nothing compares to it."
